The ‘most nauseating, disgusting’ football fan base.

ESPN sports commentator Stephen A. Smith on why he picks on the Dallas Cowboys.

CNN’s Chris Wallace asked Stephen A. Smith, “Why do you hate the Cowboys so much?”

“Because their fans are truly the most nauseating, disgusting fan base in American history. If they went 1 and 16 and the season ended January 5th at 7pm, by 7:15 they’l go, ‘You know we’re going to the Super Bowl next year, right?’ This is who they are…They can pass gas and they’ll tell you it’s perfume.” You just get so tired of listening to the misery. I don’t know as a sports guy if anything brings me more pleasure than seeing Cowboys fans miserable.”

Smith has hated on the Cowboys for years, often mocking them with their “How ‘Bout Them Cowboys?” slogan in a sarcastic manner, calling them “a damn disgrace.”

The outspoken commentator criticizes players from all sports, but seems to focus more on NFL players, but one of his most famous critiques came in the 4th quarter of Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Cleveland Cavaliers player J. R. Smith, with 5 seconds remaining in regulation, dribbled the ball out without attempting a shot, believing that his team was winning the game when, in fact, the score was tied.

The Warriors went on to defeat the Cavaliers 124-114 in overtime, and ultimately the series in 4 games.

“Stay off the weed!”

The next morning, Steven A. was taping a live “First Take” show in Oakland and implied that J.R. Smith’s blunder would only be possible if the player was high at the time. “Stay off the weed!” he cried, generating lots of applause from the audience.

NBA players that Smith has criticized in relation to marijuana include Zach Randolph, who was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to sell in August 2017, D’Angelo Russell, who was cited for marijuana possession inside his luggage at New York’s LaGuardia Airport while flying to Louisville in May 2019, and Alex Caruso, who was arrested in June of 2021 in Texas for marijuana possession.

Aaron Rodgers is a “baaaad man!”

There are players he likes. He once famously wore Aaron Rodgers #12 jersey to a taping of “First Take” in Dallas. He said, “I am not a Green Bay Packers fan, but I am an Aaron Rodgers fan!” He is a “baaaad man!” The crowd delivered many boos.

The Packers won the game, 37-36.
